Short story in which toys predict future events

A short story I read in the 1970s about a man who buys his son toys. The little son, while playing, destroys the little train. And a short time later, there is a disastrous train accident. He buys him a different toy (I don't remember what); the little child destroys the toy, and a short time later, a horrible event takes place. This is when the father decides to put the globe of out planet up in a safe place so the child won't reach it (postponing the disaster to come...)
