That this was achieved without a great movement or revolution but simply by a few individuals in the last three books was something to be approved of.
That, at the same time, the real relationship between mankind and the dragons was cleared up is a further thing to be wondered at, as well as allowing the archipelago to be part of our earth when the dragons moved into what Tolkien would call the uttermost west. (about the only correspondance between Earthsea and Middle Earth, although many sought to find other links, as they do between Middle Earth and Donaldson's Land etc.)
