That was one kick-ass battle between the Martians and the mystery ships.

To borrow a line from Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid: "Who are those guys?"

Having now watched all four episodes back to back, twice, I can say this series is better then BSG even if the ship-to-ship battles are as good, yet. For example I've now twice shouted at the stupid martian captain for taking a capital ship - without any escorts - in a trap. And then bragging about her score on killing couple pirates. Anyways, if anyone is in doubt, I highly recommend to watch, or bite your time and binge-watch as this is one of those series that you don't want to put down.

I just finished watching Episode two last night. So I have not encountered any Martians yet, just whispers of them. But I have not been able to stop thinking about this show!!! Will probably catch up tonight. I hate to say it but SYFY has really been crawling back to life as I am now addicted to two of the shows that they have right now. IDK if it will ever become better than BSG because in my book, BSG had the best ending of any show I have ever seen! And that's saying a lot. But even so far it definitely is more complex than BSG ever was because it's not just a big ship full of people. It's a big solar system full of very different people!!!

Having not read the books. I have to ask, just how big is the expanse? Do the books go past the belt at all? Is Jupiter/Saturn even pluto involved?

Any word on when we'll get eps 5, 6, etc. IMDb says their out now but I can't find them.

Episode 4 hooked me. Before that, I was just kind of meh...

I think it's funny that everyone online has been criticizing the binder scene in Episode 3 I think. However, if these couch scientists take a step back to look at the bigger picture, the crew has already been through much more implausible things than that. Also, it shows us that the creative team behind The Expanse is none too hesitant when it comes to supposed main character deaths.

In Episode 4. I thought for sure that new cop guy was dead. That would have been really interesting. Still IDK. This guy must be important enough to keep around.

Does anyone feel a slight star wars vibe off this? Without the crew of the ship, it can be almost a gritty star wars. Lost Princess. Maverick Detective out to find her. Young Good guy who will probably save her in the end... Though, this part of the story is not really why I'm watching it.

I haven't watched the fifth episode, yet. But the news are saying SyFy renewed this series early. So, to them, this must what they wanted, when they set out to seek a BSG replacement. Well done, it's up to a bar with new BSG first season in terms on excitement.

In the meantime, I went and bought the first book. I've been reading it over last couple of days, and first third of the book is totally different to what they set in the series. So there's that and it probably annoys a couple of people, while rest doing give a _ _ _ _.

Also what's interesting is that the Martian's ship was send from Saturn Station to pick up Holden's crew, and it hasn't mysteriously appeared from radio horizon. And another thing is that Holden was tracking six mysterious ships coming off from the belt, after the news network announced that the Martian's were going to investigate the Cantenbury incident.

What the producers did is a bit different, and I agree that they way they've done, cuts out time and plot, but in the same time it is more exciting to the TV viewers.

PS. I cannot wait to the CQC bit in the book as I want to see if they had science correct in the first novel, but not on the TV.

In addition to being the combination space opera/political thriller we’ve been waiting ages for, The Expanse is also home to some gorgeous spaceship and space station porn. And now that we’ve got a look at some of the concept art for the show, we’re awed all over again.

I was almost ready to give up on this series after the first three episodes, but I pushed on to watch episode 4 by myself, and it's definitely got my interest back again.

The way they handled the body in zero g was clever and memorable, on top of the general excitement of the firefight. I will be watching more. :)
