The Expanse - 1.05: Back to the Butcher

1.05 Back to the Butcher

And excellent mix of drama and action.

Clever of the survivors to camouflage their transport as a "tumbleweed piece of scrap metal" from the scuttled MCRN Donnager. Not clever enough, however, to evade the attention of Fred "The Butcher" Johnson. Deciding to head for Fred can't be a good thing.

I can't determine which group is the more ruthless, the UN or the OPA. The Martians may well turn out to be the good guys in this thing.

Johnson's destruction of Anderson Station was horrific. The image of the protest leader, still protectively holding his little girl in his arms as they drift lifelessly through space, will haunt me.

I think you're right, ctg. This could be equal to or better than BSG. It's got a lot of potential.

Miller should keep his hat on, though. That haircut doesn't do much to command respect for law enforcement, which already seems to be pretty lacking on Ceres.:)

Blasphemy I say to you all, blasphemy. Nothing is better than BSG especially this poor excuse. We'll see how it goes, but steady on lads and lassies.

Well, it did use the words "could be" and "potential."
I may be guilty of borderline blasphemy, but I'm attempting to avoid charges of full-blown heresy and possible burning at the stake.:)

Ceres is OPA territory. And Detective Miller is just a Belter working for a Earth-based private security service. In fact, whole security station could be taken down, if the people in Ceres would decide to do that sort of thing. The book says they have around 200 people working for the Star Helix Security.

But I liked his hairstyle and I thought it was wicked.

It's much better than SyFy summer series, Dark Matter and Killjoys. I have confidence in this series.

By the way, if you didn't know, there's no Earth POV or Martian Ambassador in the first book. Or I haven't come across them in the first half.
