The Expanse - 2.12: The Monster and the Rocket

Pieces are falling in place and betrayals only become stronger as the Expanse gears up towards the final episode. Twelfth was a good one.

Really the best episode of the series so far.

All the actors fell into their character roles perfectly. Except Amos, he got drugged out.
Holden took command like a beast and we also now know who Mao is working for.

Previews of the finale show some type of cybernetic humanoid, and it looks a bit more advanced than the proto-molecule we've seen. Is it another version/type/evolution of it? Or something different altogether?

Was a good episode, not as good as I thought it was going to be. I felt the Ganymede refugee bits with Naomi were a bit 'forced'. No way that plays out successfully in real life, although great speech by the belter at the end. Also disassociating from Holden at this point, there's definitely something up with him, is it PTSD or something else?

The move by Errinwright was great though, he even had me believing he was going to capitulate at the beginning of the episode. And Bobby really likes cucumber sandwiches!

Holden was maniac. He didn't think what he were doing when he ordered Rosinate in that collapsed dome. They could have got stuck there easily.

I agree. In the books they have food riots and it all leads to chicken man, who you saw in the last episode. Why they didn't follow the book route, I don't know.

Erringwright ... grrr.... why Avesarala didn't sack him on the spot? I don't know. Bobby however I think she's hungry like any other soldier, not just because of the cucumber sandwiches. I loved how relaxed she was during the ascension. Almost giggling to Avesarala's condition.

Errinwright is Avasarala's boss isn't he? I'm more surprised Errinwright didn't sack Avasarala, although not sure if either could sack the other if they have been elected to the positions, I'm guessing only the UN Secretary General (who is noticeably absent except for a couple of scenes) has that power...

Errinwright is not done with her. He literally left her hanging when he yelled at Mao to get back to work. I imagined off screen him looking right at Avasarala before he clicked off the camera and was like, "you're next. So watch out."

Alex steered him back on course though, he's a bit too nutty to be captain, but he really should. He makes way better decisions than Holden who is primarily driven by emotion. Alex is just Alex. That's probably why he gets along with Amos better than most.

Errinwright told Mao to " come back alone" so I think he is done with Avasarala, literally!

There is a stowaway on the Roccinate if the last clip is anything to go by.

Great episode. Loved Erringwright's move, although I thought Avarasala agreeing to meey Mau was a dumb one. She is smarter than that. Also loved Holden's message to the Martian fleet.

Looks like they've saved the Eros crater revelations for the finale. Not surprising, as I see that as the main storyline.
With an entire planet to mold in its own image, I anticipate that the Protomolecule is going to make Martian terraforming efforts look pretty pathetic.
If Mars and Earth are concerned about maintaining the balance of mutually-assured destruction to keep their planets alive, just wait until they get a load of Venus.

I think Avasarala went into that with her eyes wide open and a plan. She asked her spy friend (can't remember name) if the package was stowed securely (sic) so hoping that will come into play for the finale...

Agreed. They are both far too intent on focusing on each other to realise there is an existential threat right in front of them. Not that I think there is a lot they can do about it.
