I appreciate everyone is making jokes about this, but the original study was a waste of the money it cost. Reading ANY book does not make you stupid but educates you, and I don't believe any kind of education is a bad thing. I think the premise was that poor quality books don't stretch you and lead you to believe anything you read: gossip, fake news, anti-science, but much more likely to me, reading poor books will just promote more critical thinking. The association of poor quality books with science fiction was what annoyed us here, so their admission that any genre can include pulp trash books is just an admission that they were totally wrong. Why they were given money to extend the original study is beyond me.
