Anyone got some good examples of SFF books that make good use of reincarnation, particularly if modern?

The only three I've got off the top of my head are The Wheel of Time, the Deverry Cycle, and the Eternal Champion.

Clair North's The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August comes to mind, though technically speaking that was not reincarnation.
Lord of Light by Roger Zelazny plays with it.

I'm sure there must be more.
There is a Google group dedicated to it: Google group Reincarnation. Haven't explored it, though.

Not modern, but I think it was quite a popular theme in inter-war occult stories by David Lindsay, Dion Fortune etc. I can't recall which exact titles.

Would Altered Carbon count?

Technically no, I think. in Altered Carbon, and a lot of other SF, it's the mind that changes bodies. The person involved is aware of the transition and remains the same - I should say the same personality - and continues his/her life. It is a controlled process.
Nothing of that sounds like reincarnation.

Karma by Arsen Darnay.
Quite enjoyed it when I read it in the early 1980s. Never come across the author again.
