Transit of Mercury 11 Nov. 2019

Got it! I observed Mercury against the sun just now. ….I have to relocate my telescope thanks to tree branches, but I'm sure I spotted the planet. Very cold (4 F) but clear here in eastern North Dakota.

I'm happy! I was able to observe the 2012 transit of Venus too.

Happily for the telescopically inept like me, there are no sunspots at this time. You see one tiny dot and it can only be Mercury.

I photographed Mercury a few minutes ago (11:27 a.m. Central Standard Time) by holding my iPad against the telescope lens.
