I may live in Yorkshire but I'm a Scot
I was impressed, was trying to work out how they'd resolve in an hour long special when the penny dropped it's the first of a new series.

I really liked this, thought Stephen Fry would have lasted longer.

According to Wikipedia, Spyfall is the name of a card game designed way back in 2014.

The chances are that any "clever" pun, or play on words, we might "invent" has already been invented by at least one other person....

Enjoyed it. Sheffield Police Station was of course Cardiff central police station, in Cathays, Cardiff.
The foyer of MI6 was the side entrance to the Brangwyn Hall in Swansea, and the room where the agent was on a ventilator is the Mayor's Reception Room at the Brangwyn. My SIL got married in that room a couple of months ago.

Too much running about and dramatic music. I used to like dialogue and a plot...
Didn't Ryan Sinclair [Tosin Cole] have DCD? And now he's playing Basketball?
And as good as Sacha Dhawan is, if The Master isn't played by Michelle Gomez, well then...

Michelle Gomez,
She was good.
But so was John Simm; and Derek Jacobi and Anthony Ainley; and indeed pretty much everyone who ever played him/her. (even as a boy)
I have no doubt that Sacha Dhawan will continue in a fine tradition

To be honest, it came up so few times in the last series it wouldn't surprise me if they decided to quietly drop that aspect of him.

I really enjoyed this, and to be honest it's something of a shock we've never had a Bond/Who crossover before. I thought the tension was really well done, and it's not predictable where it's going, and it's not obvious how Team Tardis is going to avoid being Emmerdale'd... And Yaz was doing stuff! Yaz was given honest-to-goodness stuff to do that wasn't just hanging around with the Doctor so she could learn what anti-matter is.

I loved the reveal at the end. OK, it wasn't revealed how Missy managed to regenerate, but in the best series tradition I hope it never is. And as a fan of the old show, I may have inadvertently squeed at the tissue compression.

Here's to hoping the rest of the series follows suit (and bowtie).

It wasn't mentioned explicitly by name, but the basketball scene was all about that. His nervousness at trying to shoot, his reaction afterward, and then the conversation with his friend about all the myriad excuses he's used to get out of playing before.

Ah, I took the excuses to be cover stories for his travels.

Oh, I suppose that could be, too. Or probably would be, since the others were in their scenes giving their excuses for being absent. Never mind me.

I thought it was a decent enough episode. I loved the game of 'Snap' and how bonkers The Master was - he seemed creepy so it wasn't a big surprise but was still fun. I'll watch the next but don't know if I'll be convinced to keep watching when there's so much else to watch. There were two excellent episodes last series which didn't justify watching the whole lot.

Spyfall is a play on the James Bond film, Skyfall.

Starts out okay, then becomes terrible, but manages to pull off an exciting ending. Stephen Fry was completely wasted and Lenny Henry isn't being well utilized yet either.

Still, the reveal at the end has me hooked for the next episode. I just wish they could manage an entire episode with the quality of the last five minutes of this one.

I loved the game of 'Snap'
I wonder if I can sue for copyright infringement ;)

I thought it was better than every episode in the last series
That is rather faint praise, but I agree. It has found its feet and I will start following it again.

I agree that Stephen Fry and Lenny Henry were wasted. Also, Sacha Dhawan seemed a little over-used this holiday being in Dracula too.

WHAT? Doctor Who has been MIA for what,10-15 years (subjectively), and the show makes a sneak return under the guise of the annual special? Was this season start as much of a surprise to the world as it was to me?
The last hint of the Doctor's return was a short teaser I saw a week or two ago that said something like "coming soon." Fortunately, my DVR is far more vigilant than I.
That being said, I loved it.
It seemed as though the TARDIS gang of four members had been doing their own things, awaiting the return of we viewers, until the men in black gathered them up for their new mission. It was fun seeing the TARDIS up on the rack, with the Doctor administering its 50,000 light year, millennial tuneup. I liked how she introduced herself to the MI6 director as an "upgrade."
The Bond spoofing, complete with 007ish music, car chases and tuxedos, was a delight. I'll miss Master Missy, but her replacement appears to be adequately insane. I did not foresee his transformation from x-file-obsessed geek.

I did see it coming because Cup Of Joe spoilt it for me in the What's The Connection game. Never mind, I should have watched it sooner...
