Some information. I'm beginning season 3 of Tooninoot, which is a comedy/fantasy series I created in the style of a television show. (No, it's not in script, but rather in "episodes" which are essentially just short chapters.) And yes, magic does indeed exist in this world. (A little background information, it takes place in the Andromeda galaxy, but intergalactic travel is commonplace, with a sort of alternate timeline version of Earth existing within my mega-arc overall.) Magic being pretty standard in the way of video games and such, with elemental spells, summoning, etc. But it can easily backfire or simply have wild, random results, depending on the mental fortitude of the one who is using it. Also applies to artifacts such as wands or staves that are used as catalysts for spells, but enchantments are generally pretty reliable if properly cast.

So the trouble I'm having is this. What are some strange, silly, off-the-wall ideas that could happen in space to a crew of a starship? There's potential, of course, for many different planet-side antics, but I think I would prefer most to happen aboard starships out beyond orbits. I'm just blanking on things here. The sillier, dumber, more random, the better.

(Also, please, if you're curious about the series. I have it up on Amazon, each season for only $1 U.S., available via Kindle and the Kindle App. Just look up Tooninoot and if you enjoy it, please tell family and friends about it, I have no way to properly advertise. XD)

Organic Gravitational Attraction Zone: In other words, near a particular star, cosmic belt, whatever, it affects organic matter so that it attracts to other organic matter... meaning, the crew, critters, plants on board... food and so on, to each other. Make the attraction happen with a variable range based upon density of the individual.

Conversely, you could find them equally repelled.

p.s.: Tribbles have been done already ;)

Oh, good idea there. Going to have to look up notable celestial bodies in the Andromeda galaxy...or come up with one on my own. Kind of having an idea for them getting perhaps slightly too close to the black hole center...but that'll be on hold most likely.

Thanks for the idea there, K2. :) Any more will be welcome, each season is ten episodes long. XD

Looks like you are in the states but see if you can access Red Dwarf, a BBC production that ran to 73 episodes in the 1990s. A sci-fi comedy sitcom based on a spaceship - perfect inspiration for your series. It has a cult following and is packed with silly, dumb, ridiculous antics.

Worse case you can buy the DVDs. If you like writing your series, you won't be wasting your money. I loved it. Still do.

Well, it's not really a sci fi but I'll consider it indeed. Heard stuff about it, never really thought of looking it over before.

Thanks for suggestions, peeps. :)

I read a book with that as the premise once...(Googling)...found it! Raft, by Stephen Baxter.

Never heard of it, I'll check it out.

EDIT: Well I checked it out. As said I've never read it before, yet it seems to be a constant theme (though in serious fashion) throughout.

It can be read here (short story version, I discovered it was a short novel as well): Raft - a short story by Stephen Baxter
