(Found) Keeper of the ISIS Light

So, my girlfriend was describing a book she really enjoyed and wanted to read again and hasn't been able to find or remember the title. I'd like to get it for her as a surprise gift and was hoping you folks might be able to help.

She said it was about a girl who lived on another planet, might have been Mars. Her parents landed there shortly before she was born and when she was born her father mutated her so she could survive on the planet. She had multiple eyelids, expanded chest cavity and lungs, etc. She wanted to meet the other inhabitants so her father made a suit for her to go out in. People were terrified of her and the book is in her perspective, but you dont find out until the end that she doesn't look human at all because of the mutations. I know its vague but who knows, maybe I get lucky and someone here knows it

Not quite as you describe however close enough.
She is alone until others arrive and it is ISIS not Mars.
