Possibly my favourite horror film and shares inspiration for my novel.

I love this film and have lost count of the amount of times I’ve watched it.

This article is a nice short read on it.

They just don't make films like this anymore.

I'm sure this film was both advertised and credited as based on the James Herbert novel The Fog. But Herbert's book was about a chemical gas leak from a weapons development facility, that made people go crazy when they breathed it in. Which, of course, is nothing to do with undead pirates! I presumed somewhere in the early development the rights from the novel were originally used to green light the film. However, I don't see a reference on Wikipedia about this.

I have watched The Fog perhaps 3 or 4 times over the last 40 years, and still cannot find any love for it.
