DISCUSSION THREAD -- April 2020 -- 85-Word Writing Challenge

I could easily have voted for more than three, but my votes went to @Bren G @BT Jones and @Perpetual Man

@Cat's Cradle @Peter V and @johnnyjet each get an honourable mention from me, but there were quite a few this time I felt were very nicely done.

Now, got to try and lose about 150 words from my 300er...
Good luck @Simbelmynë. I was the same; about 500 words. I had to completely dump my dialogue in favor of an unspoken, one-person discussion, which felt very contrived, but was necessary. It made me feel like some kind of bargain basement editor just looking to hack and slash their way through a fully-fledged body right to the bare bones.

I am glad we had 3 votes to cast, with so many good stories this month.
My Muse went into self-isolation this month (without even a 'by your leave') I thought Muses were immortal.

I cast my 3 votes.

This is the third challenge I missed. I had two thirds of a story but, I was called away before I could finish on the final submission date.

Hopefully I can join in next time. I'm trying desperately to work on my 300 tale. I want to enter at least one story this month.

I hope everyone is doing OK with what's been going on.

For some reason I'm finding narrowing my short list down harder this month :( Which is another way of saying I'm enjoying all 9f them a lot!

Congratulations to all on a wide variety of creative tales. Difficult decision, however, my Short List and Favorites:

Escape – Mouse
Plain Jane - Victoria Silverwolf
Paraíso é ... - BT Jones
A Garden in the Cells – Simbelmynë
The Carnival Sign – Parson
The Comforts of Home – sule
What Happens After – Culhwch
Decaying Worlds - paranoid marvin
The Baffling Travels of a Hapless Commuter (Pt I) – Elckerlyc
In the Depths of the Amazon River – Menolly
Planet of Exile - Teresa Edgerton
The Physics of Snow Globes – Abernovo

So.

Ten years.

Of course, I did not enter the challenges in those first few months but have followed and taken part ever since. Even when I have not got the time (like these days), I do my best to throw something in.

Voting this month was a bit tricky, sometimes having multiple votes can be harder than just one. I narrowed it down to 4 and had a real problem between two of them...

Voted for:

@Mouse
@BigJ
@paranoid marvin

with honourable mentions for @elvet @Elckerlyc and @TheDustyZebra

with a special mention to @Cat's Cradle who wrote something that was profound and achingly dark and light at the same time. Paradoxically the very reason I liked it so, was the reason it didn't get a vote. Go figure.

Thanks for the shortlisting M.Robert and big thumbs up for the votes (the original) PM , Luiglin and jonnyjet. My first challenge for quite some time, in fact the first time I've written anything., and I'm really chuffed that it's worth the effort.

Glad to hear from you Starbeast, was worried when I didn't see an entry from you. Hope all is well with you too.

*Edit* just seen you've voted for me too! Thanks SB

I note another good thing about having 3 votes. Most of us already have a vote, whereas in most challenges most of us get no votes at all.

And I note that @Mouse is proving once again to be a force to be reckoned with in the challenges she enters.
