Alright, years ago read a fantasy war novel.
I thought the book was Called Sherman's March but cannot find it anywhere.
As for plot,
Its about a young boy joining an officer school and his classes. His country is at war. While in school, he visits a town and falls in love with a girl who is a native slave (Not sure if this was accurate). The particular scene is that she dance. I remember the novel having a disease caused by the natives. The kid (Sherman) falls sick. I believe her dreams of a bridge and see his friends who are sick crossing over it where a mythological being is harvesting the souls.
I know the story centered a lot on leadership.
No idea when the novel was written. Who the author is. I know it was paperback.
