So i've unfortunately never been to any time of con...and i doubt i will be able to anytime soon with Corona...but when they are back up, do they tend to have livestreams to watch from home if we can't get there?

In a way you are lucky. Cons go virtual.
The next Worldcon 2020 (CoNZealand) will go virtual. It's not unthinkable that future WorldCons will remain a virtual event.

See Website CoNZealand announcement.

It's not unthinkable that future WorldCons will remain a virtual event.
Having gone five times to Comic Con in San Diego, I'd guess only about 0.01% of a con experience can translate into a "virtual event." So let's not pretend it would be anything like the real thing.

People like the chance to get together with distant friends, and to meet new ones. After the isolation of the lockdown, I think people will be more eager than ever to go to a live event, once the danger is past. Meanwhile, virtual events may fill in the gap, and show people who have never been to a con a part of what a convention has to offer, but it can never duplicate the social aspect, which for many people is the most enjoyable part.

Oh, absolutely.
My first visit to a Worldcon was last year. It was the most enjoyable thing I had done in years. A virtual con can't replace that experience.

Never been to any since I'd not do well there, but I'd assume with the prevalence of costumes and the patrons tending to fall on the more 'science-based' end of the scale, that current social protocols would not be as much of an issue as other convention like events. However, I can also see where they'd tend to lean toward more responsible and just not.

I wouldn't be surprised if certain elements remain virtual even when/if life goes back to whatever normal will look like after Coronavirus. I think a lot of events may opt to keep some parts online, for the increased viewership.

Maybe 2021 will be the year of micro-cons? Events with limited attendance and lots of livestreams?

ps. Tor.con is next week with some great web panels!
