Started watching this back in the day, and tbh I got bored part way through season 3; the storylines really didn't grab me. And this from an avid fan of TOS and TNG. But then years later I was told that it if I bore with it, it does get really good. I'm getting toward the end of Season 4 and you know what - it really is. There are some pretty awful episodes in there - the mirror universe are cringeworthy (and this is in stark contrast to the excellent mirror-universes of TNG and TOS). A few of the other seem to be mere fillers and quite hit-and-miss (Jake growing old not so good, O'Brien being imprisoned very good) and the holodeck is creeping into it quite a lot more , except now it seems to be working (loved the joke from O'Brien to Worf about the holodeck always going wrong in TNG).

But as I say, massive improvements over the first couple of series, much like with TNG which, when you compare Seasons 1 and 2 to say 6 and 7 shows a massive gulf in quality. The problem with TNG was an over-reliance on holo-suite and Data epsiodes , but still lots of other good stuff in there. I'm not sure what Seasons 5,6 and 7 are going to be like, but it's looking like the Dominion are going to play an ongoing role. Definitely much more engaging this time around!

But what I find amazing is the sheer number of episodes they get through - over 170 with DS9, similar with Voyager and TNG ; that's over 500 episodes of Star Trek, incredible
