"Write what you know (emotionally)."

Character growth is important part of a theme, plot, craracter arch...

The writer is the main source of all that knowledge he or she uses while writing character and life related things. If a writer is a mystery to himself, how can he write well? If her life is a mess how can she get organised text made?

The more tools you have to see yourself and your life, the more tools you have in your toolbox for writing. The more tools you have to fix your life, the more tools you have to fix your stories. Your life is your material warehouse. You should have a good inventory of it. And you should have a good understanding about different stuff there is.

You are your material, your toolbox, your organiser, your leader, your motivator, your attention setter...

You can't know your characters well if you don't know yourself well.
