Hey everyone.
I don't have a lot of details on this, unfortunately, because I never read the story in question. The details were relayed to me by a friend with a terrible memory who read it (probably at least 15 years ago, so the novel is at least that old). It was an English language novel where one element of the plot was that deep in the outer solar system, there's a spaceship in need of repair/rescue. The crew may have been in cryonic storage. An AI on the moon decides the best way to reach this ship is by launching piecemeal parts in stages that assemble themselves into a complete functional robot during the trip out. This is supposed to be faster/easier/cheaper than building a whole ship on the moon and not launching until it's complete.
That's... really all I've got. I definitely understand if that's not enough. Any help would be appreciated, though. Thanks!
