Star Trek renewed for Season 4

You know they had a deal on the table with Netflix and they said no. I wonder what would it cost for them to go back and say, "Look, we effed up. Can you please help us to fix this thing..."

Well I watched the first 2 episodes on Pluto TV via NowTV (streamed), the 2 episodes consecutively. I'm not sure how ST it feels, its so far removed from everything we love about ST. Its good but has terrible moments of bad science. The gravity fails so they all shoot upwards, floating. When Book's ship is compromised he flies backwards. But what am I talking about, this is Sci Fi, not SF...

Panic mode continues. Hold firm people, this is a BS deal!

The streaming wars are heating up as we enter the holiday season but for Trekkies of all persuasions, there’s only one destination for all the new Star Trek shows and that's Paramount Plus. Now for those holdouts waiting for an attractive deal to entice them into ViacomCBS's blossoming platform, we got a Cyber Monday special to launch warp speed into.

From today until the end of Nov. 29, Paramount Plus has a Cyber Monday deal that offers new customers one free month on either its Essential Plan with ads at $4.99 per month after the trial, or an ad-free Premium Plan for $9.99 per month after the complimentary month. If you sign up for a full year, you'll save another 16% on a 12-month subscription, bringing the monthly base fee down to $4.17.

I only just realised Season 4 had finally been released. I couldn't find it on Netflix (one of the main reasons I pay for it), couldn't even find Seasons 1-3 any longer, then I read this thread :censored:
Bloody annoying of Paramount/Netflix
There are a lot of pissed people out there for Paramount making this move.
To be honest I have never ever heard of PlutoTV.
I've heard of it but I'm not paying for yet another streaming service.

This is exactly what happened with the end of Stargate. I can wait, as I did then. When I finally saw it, it wasn't exceptional. I do agree that Picard is a better show compared to what we saw in Season 3, although whether Picard will be available in the UK is another question.

Pluto is free to stream but to be honest, this move by Paramount has made me not want to exert the little effort in finding Pluto to watch the new season.

Pluto is free with Now TV. I don't know about other TV servers

Thanks, I appreciate the help, but I already found that. However, I couldn't find Discovery. It says "Not found on this planet" if you search for Discovery or Star Trek. I do have a Now TV dongle that was my daughter's, but the subscription has long expired. Like you said:

Its definitely on there because we watched it. However you have to catch it when its on because its streaming. 9pm on friday night, its there

Found this:

Star Trek: Discovery S4 on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 9 PM on Pluto Sci-Fi channel. Catch new weekly episodes of Star Trek: Discovery Season 4 on the Pluto TV Sci-Fi...

Guess you can only watch it live.

"Streaming" just means you can watch something while it is still downloading, as opposed to downloading the entire file of something, and then playing it. Generally, streaming services allow you to do that anytime you feel like it. Only being able to watch at a particular time is "live streaming" and usually reserved for live performances like a concert or performance. I'm sorry, but Pluto TV is just being very odd in that respect.

Pluto seems odd in that it has channels with programmes on at set times but it also has films and box sets you can watch anytime.

Well its the only way we get to watch STD 4 .
Which is exactly the point!

I guess some people have Now TV as an App on a Smart TV and can then record it. I don't have a modern enough TV to do that so it would have to be spaghetti wiring.

How can anyone responsible have thought that to make the only legal way to watch this hugely popular series in the UK would be in this method on some obscure live streaming channel like Pluto TV? Do they actually believe that people will watch it that way and not via bit-torrent file-sharing websites instead? I'm not condoning the use of illegal streaming services, what I'm saying is that if you really want to put them out of business, give people a way to pay to legally view programmes. It isn't just Star Trek Discovery season 4 and the end of the final season of Stargate where this has happened. There are a number of science fiction shows that were extremely popular in the US but that were on no platform elsewhere in the world and the legal US sites were region blocked on the internet. They obviously don't care about fans outside of the USA at all.
