☡Secret Shutin Santa Signup 19 ☡ Post Story Requests Here

Still thinking on this but have a three questions.

If we are assigned something which we absolutely think is a crash and burn, can we request an alternative? :X3:

Once completed, do we simply send via PM to the recipient?

Would it infringe copyright, or any other in house rule, if one requests something set in a "universe" created by a published author?
You pm me with your efforts otherwise you arent secreting your Santa ingredients.
You can ask for anything anywhere for your story request, As this is not a commercialized venture the only hold from free use or fair use if copyrighted world's or characters in my view is embarrassment. If you are too ashamed to admit to being a pink unicorn fan club member then you just won't be getting that sort of story. If you want a fan fiction set up or a what if then just name it.
As for writing, if anyone has zero inspiration may I first suggest a threefold process.
1. Research. Read about your topic and look at genre examples.
2. Free write.
Here are some idea sources for free writing.
Imagine your topic in response to random song lyrics.
Use a writing site inspiration generator to Kickstart your muse.
The odder ones the better
Warp core, Prancing Pony and Seventh Sanctum are quite evocative.
Use Google "I feel lucky"
Open your snack cupboard and use an adjective that describes the first snack you see to describe your protagonist. For example; salty cheesy twisted dark sugary crisp pickled doughy fragile etc.
3. Pm me for writing buddy support and I will try talking you through it.
But I wouldn't be too worried. As I have said everyone will have a few choices.
I have already gone through the rules for switching off topics. But most usually that's not necessary.
You are doubting yourself, but you shouldn't. Somehow everyone that makes their way to this place is just an odd brilliant duck. To quote Captain Kirk, "Trust me. It will work".

Now no one get any ideas about raiding Chris's larder. Covid or not it is bikini season and all you newbies will truly regret not minding their carbs when it's time for the Santa team photo.
Hold up... Am I reading this right that there will be a group picture of everyone in a Santa bikini? I mean, I'm pretty sure some of you on here in a Santa bikini may prompt someone to be interested in seeing the photo... if I'm in such a picture, even hiding in the back, children will scream and cry, adults will vomit uncontrollably, and yard pests ranging from rodents to bears will flee...

Oh, and I'm up for any story. I'm doing this to grow as a writer so feel free to give me conventional or strange. Just don't expect me to wear a Santa bikini in it...

Is this a social distancing thing?

Lol, yeah not so much... although the sight of me in a Santa themed bikini would certainly assist with that as well... It has more to do with the fact that I'm 1. a guy, 2. in need of a good tan, 3. rather on the hairy side, and 4. needing to loose a significant amount of weight. So if you can imagine a white whale standing on its tail fluke in a Santa themed bikini you wouldn't be far off...

There are a few hit and done run out would be authors that we still need to get a story prompt posted from.
@Peter V

@Elckerlyc

@Dan Jones

We await your story requests please and thank you.
Remember I can't guarantee you will get your preferred prompt if you are not prompt, but we welcome you to pitch in at any time. There is no such thing as social writing isolation in this thread.
So may I have your prompts please?

A theme of Fugitive, set in Iain M Banks "Culture" universe. Fair or not?

So, once they're all done and posted (anonymously, right?), can we all vote for the best one?

I don't think you can anonymously post on the public forums....

I've never participated in this sort of thing before, so I don't exactly know how you send it so the recipient doesn't know who sent it. Anyone else know?

We would have to send it to Mad Alice, who would then post them for us, keeping the anonymity.

Ah, makes sense. So in theory we could vote on which ones we like best. Probably not a good idea, though, since they'll be coming from different writing prompts. It would be nearly as bad as trying to judge a Beautiful Baby competition.... :)
