What is/are your favorite(s)? They can either be ones you read from your childhood, ones that your youngsters, etc., or just ones you've read for fun.
The only ones I can think of now are Thunder Cake by Patricia Polacco and the Frog and Toad books by Arnold Lobel.

Room on the Broom
The Gruffalo
Both by Julia Donaldson and Axel Schaeffler. Genius. Have read them out loud many 100s of times.

The Little Grey Men by Denys Watkins-Pitchford (BB)
The Story of Siegfried by James Baldwin (not the Parisian exile), illustrated by Peter Hurd
Norwegian Folk Tales Viking Press 1960

The ones I just posted might be a leetle bit late for this thread, i.e. more middle school than elementary school, etc.

My kids and I liked Astrid Lindgren's Tomten books.

Vasilisa the Beautiful

The Firebird

and other Russian fairy/folk tales
I have a small collection of Russian printed copies from the 1960's- 70's and other Russian fairy/folk tales. Beautifully illustrated.
