Ideas for the casting of the 14th Doctor?

I have no interest in trying to make Dr. Who pc my making him female, or black.

Stephen Mangan is actually a great choice. I’ve liked him in everything I’ve seen him in and he has a genuine quirkyness that makes him appealing.

What about Mark Strong? An excellent actor who’ll bring quite a dark element to the role.
Stephen Mangan is a great choice! I'm not too sure about Mark Strong though, I personally like it when The Doctor has a strong sense of humour and I honestly think he'd make it way too serious.

Some excellent suggestions, but I think I must be the only person in the world who watched the mostly average but occasionally excellent ITV cop show Murder City, and based on his performance on this I would like to see Kris Marshall. Although it was years before the revival, I took one look at him in this and said: "Doctor!"

if it's to be another woman, I would like to see Polly Walker

I think that Laurence Fox might have the the right combination of height, authority and quirkiness...

Sadly for reasons we don’t cover here there isn’t a whelk’s chance in a supernova that the BBC would consider him.

I'm in the "They need better Writers" camp. There is nothing wrong with JW as the Doc. A bit too manic for me but I can live with that if the stories are good.
But the scripts and ideas... They need to regenerate in to something better.

True, alas: you'd think that someone with a livelihood that depends on public approbation (and casting directors) would keep controversial opinions to themselves...

Any female suggestions. What about Felicity Jones?

If the showrunner's leaving, that's good news.

I think it'll be another woman - personally, I'd like if they quietly retconned the nonsense from the last finale and had Jo Martin be the next Doctor, as she was fab in Fugitive of the Judoon. But a new showrunner is essential and I suspect Chibnall will leave after the next series/the 60th anniversary special (no news on that front currently, aside from him being at work on the next series).

The viewing figures are still respectable (average audience of 5.93m for the series, once catch-up is added on, which is how a lot of people watch TV now - around what the likes of Merlin got, which was regarded as a hit when it aired), but it should be doing better.

Looking back through the thread, I rather like Danny's idea of Noel Fielding...

I want Jodie to stay, not her fault the storylines let her down. Give her a season without Yaz and Ryan, a storyline thats fun without being preachy. In other words make it entertaining we don't need banging over the head with what environmental or social issues are currently trending.

Let's have Graham running down corridors screaming:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Aye.

"You've got all of time and space, from human history to far flung civilizations, to play with."

"Great, I'll bang on about contemporary political issues!"
