Another story that I read sometime in the 1980s or 1990s.

I don't remember the full plot, but there was an alien entity that had no physical form, that could move objects around and induce electrical currents, etc. At some point, it takes a woman and keeps her in a "prison" that was originally some form of nuclear test chamber, and still has a strange (and it turns out lethal) white opalescent glow in the middle. I think she unfortunately succumbs to radiation poisoning eventually.

Some specific things I remember:

* The alien talks to her by inducing electrical currents in one of the PA speakers in the site (I remember the sound distrorting because the poor old speaker was bing badly overloaded).
* The alien takes a "refrigerated box of food" from a house, and dumps it down there to keep her fed. Later, other pepole discover it there and mention a normal domestic refrigerator along with other stuff.
* When the alian siezes her, they shoot down dark tunnels and into the pale opalescent light. There was some form of stairwell/platform in the chamber that vanished into the fuzzy opal glow.
* When other people discover her, they measure the radiation levels and discover that opalescent glow is indeed lethal.

Any ideas?

Just my opinion. The emphasis on 'radiation' dates it considerably, as does the notion of aliens taking women prisoner for the sake of taking women prisoner.
To me the plot as described reeks of 1950s pulp. So might benefit looking earlier than 80s/90s.
