Evil Living Spaceship Film?

I'm looking for a movie that features some technology (I think it was the spaceship itself) that becomes sentient and evil. A human villain basically allows himself to be combined with the technology, becoming a cyborg. I believe it came out during the late 80s or early-to-mid-90s, based on how unconvincing it looked.

Could this be the 1987 adaptation of George R. R. Martin's story "Nightflyers"?

There was a movie called Debug in which an old freighter's AI starts killing off the crew that have been sent to wipe it and return it to full service.

Terrible acting, but not a bad story.
