I read a YA Sci-Fi book that I forgot the name of. While the cadets were on a spaceship it was attacked by aliens. Most of the adults died and it’s revealed that the spaceship has a warpgate capable of transporting a planet. The aliens and the humans were fighting over a planet capable of growing life. It’s revealed that the aliens look very similar to human but they have difference in skin and hair color. It’s revealed that one of the female cadets was a alien. The female cadet was adopted by a high ranking military officer. The spaceship was described having a H shape.
