Today, Oct. 6, is the official release day for Monsters, Maces and Magic: Pawn

Monsters, Maces and Magic has been my most successful series to date. You can start with Pawn (it's written as an entry book to the series) or go back to the first novel, Outpost.

Pawn can be obtained via various ebook vendors here: Monsters, Maces and Magic: Pawn (ebook)
Pawn
can be obtained in print here: Monsters Maces and Magic: Pawn (Print)

If you do pick up a copy, be sure to let me know your thoughts on the tale!

So what is it about?, the title is a bit non descript.

Nice, good luck with the book .
Thanks, for the wish for good luck. :)

In answer to your question--what is it about?

Monsters, Maces and Magic: Pawn is the 5th book in the series. The series is about a group of college students (and one junior high kid) that are trapped in a table top role playing game (Monsters, Maces and Magic--similar to Dungeons & Dragons) as their characters. Their goal is to both survive the RPG world and escape/return to the 'real' world. Elements of the game influence how 'things' work, such as combat, spells, obtaining skills, etc. But my stories are not 'Crunchy' LitRPG, with a lot of stats and game notifications.

This story is from the perspective of an NPC (Non Player Character), a pawnshop owner, who hires the main characters (their party) to complete an adventure for him.

If you enjoy action/adventure fantasy, and have ever played RPGs (tabletop or online/computer), it might be an entertaining read.

Back of the book description:
Higslaff the Pawnshop Owner needs a job done, but the Guild War has taken a toll. Those he’d normally call upon are engaged in some other vital assignment, or dead.

He decides to hire Gurk, Jax, Marigold, Lysine and Kalgore instead. The adventuring party has proven themselves resourceful and effective on previous jobs, not only for himself, but for the local silversmith, and the Church of Apollo. This particular assignment shouldn’t be a problem.

What Higslaff doesn’t know is that details of his job have been compromised. Agents of the Riven Rock Thieves’ Guild are on the move, ready to wrest control of the enchanted item that could tip the balance in the Guild War.

Like the idea, its like the cartoon (Dungeons and Dragons?) from many a year ago except better presented and written :)

Have the others been popular also?

Yes, it is along the lines of the Dungeons and Dragons cartoon from years back. Except the characters in my series start out at first level, don't have powerful magic items, and no guidance or support from a 'friendly dungeon master.' Sort of similar to the Guardians of the Flame series from some long time back.

Actually, there are a lot of LitRPG books being published, but most tend to be based on video games rather than table top RPGs.

My Monsters, Maces and Magic series has been pretty popular, and strong in audiobook, too. But 'popular' is obviously a relative description. For a small play on words, Stephen King would consider a book's sales in hundreds of thousands as popular (or maybe a little anemic for his expectations), while I think popular in my sales of a book in hundreds and thousands. So I'd say they're popular, for a small fish in a big pond.

But that is a better place than most of us are in, myself just starting out so I am looking forward to being where you are :)
Time and dedication and effort, and a little luck, JJewel. Keep pressing on. I truly hope you (and many others here) find great success.

I expect we all will, what I wish is that I had more time, I have a list of books by authors in this site I really wanna read, you have been added to the pile. I have been reading my current book for 4 weeks very slowly as the focus is always finishing writing the next story ...

Do you get time to read?

Thanks for adding my work to your TBR list :)
I read when I can, and supplement with audiobooks. Can 'read' those while driving or doing yard work, etc.

You would not thank me if you could see my TBR list already, I even have a pile of Japanese poetry books I picked up in my fave charity shop recently that look amazing and illustrated throughout apparently. Love those odd finds.
