Technologically advanced humans end up fighting ape like aliens. Humans had guns on shoulders that auto tracked and shot
 
Hi,

That tech sounds a lot like the stuff from Predator and I know there are a lot of books and fan fictions set in that universe. You might try there.

In this book we have human auto guns that obliterate the aliens.

We have aliens describing humans' full auto weapons as "stitching guns" or "stitching weapons." (Because when their troops would be hit by them they would get 4-5-6 holes appearing side by side across the body in a line.)
 
I've tonight almost finished a re-read of Pandora's Legions and it's not the book being searched for.
The hunt continues....
