The version of the Imperium I would chose, would be at the period just before the Horus Heresy with the God Emperor art the Height of his power and vitality vs the Galactic Empire which would have lovely technology as the Deathstar, the Galaxy Gun and the Sun Crusher.

In Battle of Empires , who comes out on top ?

Almost every "which SFF franchise wins" question has the same answer: whose rules are we playing by? If it's Warhammer's, then the space marines win because they're the ultimate soldiers, mighty superhuman warriors of whatever, something something Sparta etc. If we're playing by Star Wars' rules, the Galactic Empire wins because the Warhammer setting involves spaceships literally flying through Hell to get to places and everything relies on the 40k Emperor acting as a psychic ansible, neither of which work in the Star Wars setting. Neither franchise plays by physics as we know it.

Sorry Baylor, I've never been a fan of this type of question either. I adverse to the idea of franchise crossover's too.

Tbf, if we play by Star Wars' rules, the Galatic Empire still loses because that's what it does. Dunno how, but it does.

You also forgot option C "Assume both settings' rules are in play".

Neither.... But they beat each other to bloody mess, and the the Orks come in and plunder the lot of them for spare parts and fun...

Don't forget that the Galactic Empire is in the habit of blowing up their own planets, depriving themselves of resources in the process.

They're also in the habit of convoluted espionage that backfires on them in the end...

The Imperium of Man is no stranger to nuke it from orbit or other wasteful tactics. Very good at waste in fact.

Incidentally, assume both sides' tech works, I'll be going with the side with the most psychic supermen, which is the Imperium of Man.

In fact, even if the tech doesn't work, I'd bet on the Imperium of Man because it's filled with genius supermen, and the Galactic Empire got beat up by a tiny ragtag alliance so clearly it isn't all that and a bag of chips. As long as they can steal a couple of ships, it's all go from there.

Id like to see how the Imperium fleet would fare against the Death Star and it's primary weapon. Also, some of the Galactic empire ships are larger and can mass a greater volume of firepower than Imperium ships . Then there are there fighter ships. The empire has lots of those and they are better armed and more advanced the what the Imperium has. The Galactic empire does have some advantages.

The imperium is very good at the art of attrition.

I think Miracle Whip would dominate in any crossover. So pungently sweet.

The problem with this question is that it isn't an X-Men vs Avengers showdown, it is a matchup between two separate sets of physics.
