I am a great fan of the Time Displacement type story. The sort that Stirling (Nantucket ), Flint (1632), Fortschen (The Lost Regiment) produce. I have come across odd stand alone story, modern military in Ancient Rome for example and of course the superb "Lest Darkness Fall", which I first read back in the early '60s. Can anyone suggest authors/titles?

Custer At the Alamo by Gregory Urbach In this story George Armstrong Custer and his men never make it to Little Bighorn in 1876 . Instead he and his men get displaced in time to 1836 Texas and the Alamo.

John Birminghams Axis of Time Novels. An entire Un fleet from 2020 is transported back to 1942 and the Battle of Midway

Yep - great fan of Turtledove, but I have not read the Videssos series. Thanks
