The Scribbling Man
Tenant of the Tower of Flints
As far as I can tell there isn't a thread for Vincent King; a Cornish artist and science fiction writer from the 1970's. His work is pretty obscure and his output was small. He wrote 4 novels and a handful of short stories. He is best known for Candy Man, which has achieved some cult status.
I first discovered him when I came across the novel Another End in a charity shop and the prose intrigued me. A messy space opera, but rich with ideas and a lot of fun. I later picked up and read Light a Last Candle, which was also quite messy, but interesting and entertaining. Again, lots of ideas crammed into a very short book. I own Candy Man and Time Snake and Super Clown, perhaps his two best regarded, but I haven't yet gotten around to reading them.
I have not read any of his short stories, but have access to a couple which are included in some small paperback collections I have.
