Sounds like a better than average issue.

Yes - it was. I do tend to start reading Lightspeed with something approaching trepidation for what is to come, but this was mostly painless, and quite enjoyable in places.

Three stories in the 'issue'- the best of which was the novelette Nine Billion Turing Tests by Chris Willrich.

My review of Reactor - Apr 2024 is up on Tangent Online.

This was a bumper 'issue', with a four-part novella, two novelettes and a short story. The novella was weak and not very enjoyable; the best offering was Blackjack by Veronica Schanoes, while the inclusion of a Judge Dee story from Lavie Tidhar (Judge Dee and the Executioner of Epinal) was fun and will also appeal to many.

Three new genre stories, none of which especially appealed, though Lord Mortedart’s Revenge by Katie Kotulak was passable.

The best story was The Help Hotline by Dominica Phetteplace, in a rather mixed issue.
