Yes - it was. I do tend to start reading Lightspeed with something approaching trepidation for what is to come, but this was mostly painless, and quite enjoyable in places.
This was a bumper 'issue', with a four-part novella, two novelettes and a short story. The novella was weak and not very enjoyable; the best offering was Blackjack by Veronica Schanoes, while the inclusion of a Judge Dee story from Lavie Tidhar (Judge Dee and the Executioner of Epinal) was fun and will also appeal to many.
