Reviews of this brand-new book should be appearing more and more. I've written a long review for the excellent Tolkien monthly Beyond Bree. Here's a review that's been posted online:

New book demonstrates J.R.R. Tolkien was more than a Carpenter cartoon – Catholic World Report

The reviewer is the author of that good study called Planet Narnia.

I wonder if there's going to be widespread discussion of the criticism of Humphrey Carpenter's biography of JRRT.

Re Peter Rabbit/Beatrix Potter
Both Peter Rabbit and Bilbo got into difficulty with their buttons.
Both tried to steal from dragons and had to make a quick getaway.
I can imagine Tolkien reading it to his children.

I "liked" your comment, Hugh, although the dragon episode was left out of my copy of The Tale of Peter Rabbit.
