TW: violence + spoilers

I'll just post everything I can remember about it:

Its set in the future where teleportation exists. Chopped up / mangled corpses start appearing in the teleportation pods. The victims turn out to be cloned (or copied?) versions of people who use the teleporters - thus, their original copy is still alive and well.

Evidence points to a man who will soon become the main character (I think he's a disgruntled ex-cop private detective type).
The cops including the secondary main character (who is a female cop I believe - who has some history with MC) follow the evidence to his apartment. They find him (basically in a coma) in his bath tub soaking in a gel which preserves you, but his body has wasted away severely.
Turns out someone had put him into this coma gel years ago and has now framed him for the murders.
Obviously, he is innocent - as he has a rock solid alibi (being in this bathtub for years).
They take him out and (using sci fi magic) restore his body. He and female MC proceed to investigate.

The killer is revealed to be some higher-up in the teleportation company (or a higher-up in the police force?). Turns out he has special access to misuse the teleportation technology.
He has created what is basically a pocket dimension (although I think it might have been a physically real place) where he teleports copies of the victim and himself to.
(he then proceeds to sadistically murder them and send the corpse back through the teleporter).
I remember the murders being in zero gravity.

Pretty sure its an old (80s?) sci fi book.
The cover was very 80s sci fi - it had a skeletal looking mans face on it (and it was purple I believe)

I found it myself (literally 2 minutes after posting this):
The book: The Resurrected Man - By Sean Williams.
note: was not from the 80s... 1998 actually.
(Do I delete the original post or just leave it?)
