Arthur Ransome

So, shops are open again. I went into the local Oxfam bookshop for the first time in 4 months (had to queue to get in) and saw what is probably someone’s old Arthur Ransome collection in the children’s section. Nice old editions for a couple of pounds each.

Does anyone still read these? I quite enjoyed some of them when I was a much younger, especially Swallows and Amazons, and Peter Duck, but even in the early 80s they were a bit old fashioned.

I read them all when I was a preteen. I used to love them! The old-fashioned aspect was one of the things I liked; it was all so different from my big city 70s/80s childhood.
