DISCUSSION THREAD -- JUNE 2021 75-WORD WRITING CHALLENGE

Okay, so please ignore me in the future when I say I'll wait at least ten days before entering, *sigh*...

Terrific theme, Daysman... got me to write fantasy, which I almost never do.

Best of luck with your stories, all, CC

@mosaix .... Double Dealings At Universal Androids .... The problems of making a tool too good are revealing and a bit humorous.

@Zoe Mackay .... Shell Game .... The intensity of a game is proportional to the size of the stakes.
(Parson considers his analogy, the game played, and male brains. He now wonders who the trickster really is.)

Fun theme! I've been told not to write accents, but I couldn't stop myself! My brain kept veering toward some version of a Cockney accent, I guess.

@emrosenagel .... Ignorance a bless .... Sometimes what you gain is exactly what you expect, but the trickster makes you forget about the cost of the loss.

*written accents are not uncommon in these challenges.

Struggling to think of a fitting title that is both ambiguous and understandable at the same time.

Had to change original idea as went a touch more horrific than fantasy or scifi.

@Guttersnipe .... The Leucrocotta .... Nothing in the world is as effective at thwarting a trickster as a well timed reversal of fortune.

@AlekseiVashchenko .... Take What You Need .... Some tricks are too horrible to contemplate.

Really enjoyed this theme! I'm having fun thinking what conversations @Victoria Silverwolf 's geomancer and warrior would have.

"Oi, rock boy! Try this for some sedimentary rock"
*throws cow dung at Kha*

Accents can be difficult to pull off, but some of the best fiction can be written in the vernacular. Plus, the challenges are great places to experiment to see what works for you, so go for it! :)

I've not read it yet, as I don't read entries until voting time (something I'm going to try to start doing more often than recent months), but I'm now intrigued.

@Luiglin .... I am who I am .... Makes me ponder what the world would be like with a trickster as the dominate diety.

@Mon0Zer0 .... Gold Rush .... Even transparent tricks can be deadly when greed gets in the way.

Iwroteathing: The sound of words can be very important.

Guttersnipe: It's not always easy to tell who is the victim.

AlekseiVashchenko: If all else fails, read the instructions.

Luiglin: Honesty is the best disguise.

Mon0Zer0: Virtue is its own punishment.

nixie: Who is locked in depends on what side of the door you're looking at.
