Everybody is scanned at birth to reveal how they will die (not when like Life-line). So someone in 1940 (for example, although I think the device was future) might get a diagnosis of "Covid-19" (and his folks go "WTF is Covid-19?).
The female's cause of future death was "Old age" (I don't remember how old she was at the time).
