IOSS, VAT and shipping books to the EU

Has anyone modified their online stores to take into account the new regulations around VAT collection for customers based in the EU? What kind of solutions / plugins are you using on your website for ebooks / physical books? How did you register with IOSS?

Been trying to get my head round this and it's quite confusing!
