This is a small portion of the World of Elyden, which I have been working on for some years. It’s a science-fantasy crapsack world that has become the basis for my writing and worldbuilding. I’m currently writing a novel, in all honesty, the focus was and remains the worldbuilding.

The map focuses on the main region, imaginatively known as the Inner Sea, and is based on the Mediterranean, in which I’ve lived all my life. It is a composite made from dozens of other maps I've made over the years. For a list of all the maps, you can check here.

The map is HUGE so I had to greatly reduce the image size to be able to upload it here. The full-size unedited version can be found here.

I'm really glad this is done as it was such a slog to get through. Photoshop stopped numbering the layers when I exceeded 3000 text layers so I have no idea how many layers there were before I rasterised them...

Impressive and jaw-dropping!
Besides that, I imagine you could write a whole series of novels situated around (and on!) The Inner Sea.

that's the plan, though I got bogged down in worldbuilding, which I quite enjoy. but now that so much minutiae is fleshed out I can confidently write something knowing that so much work is already finished - cities, culture, history, expressions, foods, fashion, etc.

Jaw-dropping is the right word, that's a map I'd spend some time just exploring.

So....because the inhabitants have called it the Inner sea, that means that there must be an Outer Sea, no? Map of that coming out next ;):)

EDIT: I had a look at your link and seen the globe!

Looks gorgeous, very Mediterranean. I watched Artifexian do a youtube series on making maps like this and I can imagine how addictive it was to do!
