I read this book somewhere from 2012 to 2017.
In this book, civilization is very advanced. I believe that the race of the main character was winged.
It was a paperback novel.
As much of the plot as I can remember : Near the beginning of the book, the main character plays a game in which the goal is to create a race that can defeat your opponent's race, by making one change to their environment. In this round of the game, the main character plays the game by parting the clouds on his race's world so that they become more advanced, but iirc he loses the game to his friend who had a more aggressive race.
Later on in the story, the main character somehow becomes a fleet of ships or something of the sort, and travels between star systems creating life. An antagonist appears who is focused on destroying life, and is also a powerful being like the main character. He chases the main character around the universe, destroying the life that the main character creates. At the end of the book, the main character and antagonist are both sucked into a black hole. They each become bodiless consciousnesses(not sure but they might have some sort of power over the universe).
This book was in English.
