Interesting, especially the woman who was unconscious but still aware. I didn't realise that happened, though we are susceptible instructions while we dream. I assumed that unconsciousness was a healing process, and that therefore, we wouldn't want to "wake" someone early, but that says otherwise.
I'm not a doctor and have no medical training (beyond First Aid, and a little tropical medicine) but those film noir pictures where men constantly get hit on the head and instantly fall unconscious, often several times per film, in a Tom and Jerry cartoon manner!
It would appear to me that any loss of consciousness is a sign of brain injury and that the damage could be lasting, possibly permanent. Today, footballers are concerned about the number of headers they take during training, and we see the effects of a life of punches on boxers.
