Looking for recommendations for stories about uploading your consciousness to the internets? Things like Black Mirror's San Junipero, or stories that talk about the effects of this technology?

Greg Egan's Permutation City!

Sort of, at least it involves uploading consciousness, not so much with the internet though. I adored it, but I read it about 25 years ago and you have to remember that the internet was still in 'cardboard, paint and sticky tape' phase then, so I don't know how it will hold up today. :)

This looks bang on the kind of thing I was looking for! Great recommendation.

Deamon by Daniel Suarez may be of interest to you. It was a pretty decent read and I believe there is a sequel that I should read.
Altered Carbon by Richard Morgan. Personalities are uploaded to cortical stacks within "Sleeve" bodies.

I saw a TV comedy called Upload which may also be of interest to you. I enjoyed it. Funny in places, but sweet.

An interesting book is Neal Stephenson's Fall; or Dodge in Hell. May want to read his book Reamde first to get appreciation for some of the main characters; however, not necessary to enjoy the story.

A couple of films which get there eventually:
The lawnmowerman
Lucy

So not really exploring the concept your looking for.

1. Strange Days
Strictly speaking it is about uploaded and transferred memories but similar theme

2.
A Maze of Death

3. I can't quite remember whether Tron was a consciousness transfer but I'm sure someone can

For some reason this is a subject that seems to attract action movies a lot. Are mind swap (using technology) movies of interest to your search?

I just finished watching Self/Less - an action movie with Ryan Reynolds. It was enjoyable enough.

The Anomaly - another action movie with Noel Clarke and Ian Somerhalder. The acting could be strained in places, the story was pretty good. Some decent fight scenes.

"Total Recall," especially the first one with Arnold Schwarzenegger, did a very good job with this idea.

In Revelation Space by Alistair Reynolds, Captain John Brannigan is infected with the melding plague and is slowly becoming his ship, the Nostalgia for Infinity. I always felt his story was a pretty interesting one.

I’m reading Inhibitor Phase and he/it is a derelict now, but he’s still conscious. Ironically, he’s desperate to die, but may well survive humanity.

I would love for Reynolds to tell his story.
