Sci- Fi Book- "Show me your power" HELP

I have no idea what the author or book titles are for this series. I just remember the captain of the military ship assembled a team of talented individuals with weaknesses. He would ask them to "Show me your power" to prove their worth the the team. I also remember that in this futuristic society they could have sex with anyone on board due to their beliefs that sexual frustration would be a detriment to their mission. Please help, I literally have no other details than this in my memory, I just remember how great the books are and would love to repurchase the series.

Were the 'powers' mental or physical? Were they supernatural/superhero talents, or just various skills?

I'm assuming the military ship is a spaceship, or is it a massive surface navy craft?

I'm asking because I once read a book set on a big planet with lots of ocean, and there were high tech ships sailing about surrounded by clouds of drones and nanobots

Not necessarily super powers in the sense of Marvel, but these people did seem to have super human mental abilities. The crew was hand picked for a special mission by a powerful captain or military player.

It was a military spaceship. The book your referring to sounds really cool though!
