Short story about First Contact

I remember a short story about a first contact with an alien race that goes wrong because it turns out the aliens smell so delicious that the earth ambassador beats the alien ambassador to death with a chair to eat him.
Any ideas?

I’m thinking the anthology was out in the late 80s maybe early 90s. Being an anthology the story could have been written any time before that
