Is anyone watching this series on Prime? It's years since I read the books.
The production is lavish and ,IMHO, the cast are excellent. I am really enjoying this, which unfortunately can't be binge-watched.
There is an episode every Friday. Everything about it brings back the memories of reading the books.
The opening credits alone are spectacular. If you like fairy stories for grown ups, you will enjoy this.

I just finished binge-watching and enjoying the first season. I'll be watching when season two rolls around, possibly this November.

I didn't know there was another series in the pipeline. I will relish watching it.
Like REBerg, it's many years since I read the books, but I think the stories stand the test of time well.

Watched the first half of episode one last night with the family and we really enjoyed it. This was a surprise as I didn't really care for the book, but the characters have really come to life in this TV production.

My wife and eldest spent 20 mins afterwards discussing who they thought the "dragon" (ie, chosen one) was going to be - my wife thinks it's Egwyne because she already clearly has power, while my eldest thinks it's Rand because he no longer has any direction so in writing terms it makes sense that destiny will give him one. I'm saying nothing. :)

It was also interesting to see the whole issue of gender reversals here, everything from how magic is a power jealously guarded as an all-female gift; to Rand and Egwyne's relationship, where he's the one who wants to settle down and have a family and kids, while she wants to pull away to make something more of herself. This all obviously goes down well with my family - but moreso because the episode so far is showing developed characters and developed themes within such a short time, rather than the default of characters waiting for the story to start before they become dynamic. :)

I haven't read any of the books, it's one of that book series that feels daunting to start because there is just to much of it. I watched the first season of the show though and really enjoyed it. I thought the pacing was a little fast, but I assume they are trying to squeeze in a lot per season since there are just so many books and the books are quite large.

And very good it is too. I read the books so long ago that I had forgotten much of the story.
Also, because I was young, there were elements of the story I didn't understand. It is all so much clearer now.
I think the cast are excellent and the production values eg. costumes etc. are wonderful.

Really enjoyed season 1, with a couple of minor criticisms - one being some gratuitous gore in a couple of episodes, and another being that although I think the theme music is great, sometimes they seem to play songs from the same band during the show and it just doesn't go together. At the end my youngest complained about the lack of resolution - we went through eight episodes to reach a climax which resulted in ... what? What was actually achieved?

Anyway, we're onto season two now. :)

Something that confuses me, if anyone has an explanation?

At the end of season one Perrin, the Orgrier, and a couple of Tar Vallon warriors found a mythical horn, but then were attacked by Pad Fain, who took it. Only Perrin was left standing, and I thought it was pretty much inferred that everyone else had been killed.

However, at the start of season one, Perrin, the Orgrier, and a couple of Tar Vallon warriors are tracking Pad Fain and apparently no worse for wear. No suggestion of injury. At first I thought they might be a different set of characters with Perrin, but now it seems they are the same? It's made the more confusing if they are the same as one of the warrior characters has changed actor.

Finished watching Season 2 and we all really enjoyed it. It was great seeing the characters develop, especially Matt into the finale. The eldest was unhappy with how the Red Ajah turned out, and we've yet to see the consequences of that. Really liked Lanfear. Just a shame it's going to take at least another year to get to Season 3!

Ive not seen season one out on dvd as of yet in the store .:(

And you never may (in the foreseeable future.)
I can't remember seeing any Netflix series being released on DVD lately. Amazon is possibly moving into the same direction. And other streaming services as well.

I won't be signing up.

The Horn of Valere and its Billy to summon champion from the past to come to aid of the person who blows. Impressive and its motto " The Grave is no bar to my call", says it all.
