The Brandon Sanderson year

Well for one, having to wait 6 years (since we finally got a date now) for the conclusion to his second Mistborn trilogy when he writes as you say 5 books in 2 years (x3 = 15 in 6 years) is a total drag.

And I do like his books. I've read multiple series, but why anyone would want to have half a dozen or more series on the go at once from the same author baffles me.

And why not just put out a series (or even 2 and a couple of very good novellas), finish them, then move on to something else. Especially when a lot of them seem intended to be dragged on for 10+ books, which even with his exceptional writing speed, will still take him 20+ years.

A lot can happen in that time. If I was capable of being published, the last thing I'd want is to drop dead or something, leaving all the fans in the lurch on every damn series. Plus he even looks like he's a man who's going to die young...

Okay, so I didn't know it was written in that long ago, although the early links that I've read were so tentative with that no spoiler character popping up a few times with different names and he may have just linked them together after the fact. I'm not that big a fan though, so I'll acknowledge I'm likely wrong here.

Even so, multiverse metaverse nonsense really is - to me at least - the literal worst writing/plot device imaginable.

Well, I won't try to change your mind. Let's just say I, at least, would disagree with your use of the words "silly" and "contrived", and leave it at that. :) His books aren't for everyone.

I will say, I'm a little curious why--now that we've seen he can literally write five books in the span of two years--we would need to be worried he won't be able to complete all his ongoing series. At this point, I'd imagine if anyone could deliver on finishing all his series within an average lifespan, Brandon Sanderson can.
I agree :) I wouldn't say the Cosmere is contrived at all, though I understand why it wouldn't appeal to everyone.

He does seem to be a pretty quick writing though. But the books I've read of his haven't disappointed, so I'll just say I'm excited for the new ones.

I don't know if anyone here has seen this already, but to celebrate the success of the Kickstarter, Brandon read the prologue of Stormlight 5 on his Youtube channel.

I saw it. Honestly, I thought it was pretty interesting. Can't wait for book 5 to come out, even if it probably won't be for another year. I wasn't expecting it to be from Gavolar's POV, but it makes sense.
