Xbox Live console sharing

We currently have a teenage lad who is often gaming online through an Xbox Live account.
We've now got another lad who is really wanting an Xbox to game online as well.

Will I need to purchase another Live account or will I be able to set it up so both consoles in different rooms can run on the one Xbox Live account?

What you do is set one console as the home console with the profile that has the xbox live subscription.
Any other profile on that console will have xbox live.

On another console you log in with the account that has xbox live access.
As long as you are using this account while online you can be online on both consoles at the same time.
