I was recently reading an article about the W boson and its mass (recently found to be bigger than expected). As usual, the units used were electron volts so I went looking for an explanation as to why the electron volt is used and I found this. I thought it may help others like myself who scratch their heads a bit when it comes to this kind of stuff.
