Which Robin Hobb should I read first?

I would start with The Farseer Trilogy, followed by the Liveship books.

I would give her Soldier Son Trilogy a miss.

You might find Robin Hobb's sub forum helpful Robin Hobb.

Be warned, don't expect your run of the mill hero, Fitz from the Farseer books can be rather whinny and depressing. Don't get me wrong the books are amazing and worth reading but they aren't a feel good read.

Ian, from what you've said in other threads it might be fair warning to state that Hobb's first book, Assassin's Apprentice is basically a story of emotional abuse. I didn't enjoy it for that reason, and that was even before I became more sensitive and selective about what topics I could comfortably read.
