I am currently working on my third book in the adventure series featuring gunfighter-for-hire Sam Cassidy. Anyway, I am having difficulty with the storyline. Any help would suffice. It starts off on the Barbary Coast in San Francisco and then the story picks up in Russia. Looking for the crown of seven jewels (fictional) that once belonged to Ivan the Terrible. I need to figure out where the location would be. I said in a silver mine. But I already used a mine in my African adventure. The timeline is 1904.
 
Possibilities are limitless. You might start by looking at a map of Russia, then searching on various places that strike your fancy, to see if anything resonates. You can do towns, churches, monasteries, rivers, mountains (without being in a mine), forests, lakes, industrial factory, underneath a nuclear plant, underneath an ordinary plant. Or underneath Ivan the Terrible.

Perhaps you are suffering from a surfeit of options?
 
This is what I had come up with. Let me know what needs to be changed. Sam Cassidy and Chen Tao are convicted by a notoriously brutal judge for a crime they didn't commit and are sentenced to a life of hard labor in Russia's silver mine. Scarcely looking for a rare artifact that once belonged to Ivan the Terrible.

Perhaps a gold mine? Here is what I got with a simple Google search. Siberian natural resources - Wikipedia.
 
Do you really need to be unique? I think I read a trio of mysteries where in two books the crime was committed by a guy who was dead at the time. Star Wars went to Tatooine twice.
