I read this article : Asteroid tracking in the New York Times Science section and I was pleased to see how people can think outside the box and make more progress than I would have believed possible using logarithms and common sense.

It's nice to think about some good news once in a while.
 
I'm sorry. I did not know there would be a paywall. I thought everyone was allowed at least a few views gratis.

@Parson Thanks for sharing the article! Very impressive how they're able to accomplish so much without any new hardware. Makes you wonder how much else is hidden in archives of stellar observations, waiting for a computer to sift through and find it through brute-force calculations? Maybe they'll find Planet X that way, LOL.

It used to be that I could see 3 articles per month before I hit the wall. I guess I used up my topped out months.

Algorithms suck.

The N.Y. times comes near the top in searches but usually some other source covered the same topic.
